Laurens County First Steps, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing early childhood education and support to families in Laurens County, is thrilled to announce its participation in the NASCAR Day Giveathon 2023.

Laurens County First Steps has been chosen as one of 26 South Carolina beneficiaries of the NASCAR Day Giveathon. The NASCAR Day Giveathonwill take place for 75 hours, beginning at 5pm on Tuesday, May 16 through 8pm on Friday, May 18, 2023.  This is a nationwide event that brings together fans, drivers, and teams to raise money for charitable organizations across the country.

Specific funds from this Giveathon will expand the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to include all children birth to five in Laurens County and install three StoryWalk® Projects.  The StoryWalk® Projects is an innovative and delightful way for children and adults to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Pages from a children’s book are installed in permanent display cases which are placed along an outdoor path. “The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.”

Laurens County First Steps has been serving the community for over 20 years, providing essential services to families and children in need. Our programs include parent education and support, child development screenings, child care training and professional development, access to high-quality early childhood education through scholarships, and a pediatric well-child visit reading program. With these evidence-based programs, we are working to achieve our vision of every Laurens County child entering school healthy and ready to succeed.

Laurens County First Steps is a local nonprofit that works collaboratively to ensure that all children start school ready to reach their highest potential. We achieve this goal by engaging families, caregivers, and community partners in high-quality evidence-based programs and services that improve early childhood development, from before birth through age five. We also serve as a connector and convener of all early childhood stakeholders in Laurens County.
