The Citadel to host top‐level nonprofit summit during annual Directors’ Institute

Sessions for corporate board members, CEOs adapting to nonprofit governance

The School of Business Administration at The Citadel will host a half‐day workshop for Lowcountry nonprofit organizations’ board leadership as part of its second annual Corporate Directors’ Institute. The workshop is scheduled for 1:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 17 in Bond Hall on The Citadel campus.

June Bradham, the author of The Truth About What Nonprofit Boards Want and an expert in board service, will serve as co‐host of the workshop, which will focus on the differences between corporate and nonprofit directorships and the critical role of the board chair and chair‐elect as it relates to their relationship with the
organization’s executive director.

Roberta d’Eustachio, chief of staff to the United Kingdom’s ambassador for philanthropies, will be the keynote speaker, discussing the trends affecting nonprofits today. Other speakers include:

• Paula Harper Bethea, executive director of the South Carolina Education Lottery and chair of First Financial Holdings, Inc. and its subsidiary, First Federal of Charleston
• Rachel Hutchisson, director of corporate citizenship and philanthropy at Blackbaud, Inc.
• William Hewitt, former chair of MUSC Foundation and Spoleto USA and current chair of Charleston Promise Neighborhood
• Bradford S. Marshall, who has been actively involved in the nonprofit world for many years, volunteering with and serving on the boards of many community organizations as well as privately held corporations
• Anne‐Lee Verville who serves on the board of trustees of the Columbia Atlantic Mutual Funds and the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and on the board of advisors of Custom Computers.

After the seminar, at 6 p.m., participants are invited to a welcome reception on the 4th floor Club Level of Johnson Hagood Stadium. The reception is an opportunity for nonprofit leaders to gather with some of the country’s top corporate directors and senior executives who will be participating in the Directors’ Institute the
following day.
