The Cross Hill Community Gears Up for Earth Day Clean-up: Join the Effort to Keep Laurens County Beautiful

March 19, 2024

The town of Cross Hill is set to do their part to “Keep Laurens County Beautiful,” and residents are rallying together for a clean-up effort scheduled for Earth Day.

Spearheaded by event organizer Laura Anastasio Moore, this initiative aims to beautify the roads and surrounding areas of Cross Hill, promoting environmental stewardship and civic pride.

Individuals, school groups, church groups, neighborhood friends, and youth groups, are encouraged to consider participating. Volunteers are encouraged to select a designated area or road for clean-up or join existing groups dedicated to specific locations.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 20th, as the community volunteers gather at the Town Hall on Main Street at 8:30 am to kick off the event. Volunteers will receive essential supplies, including trash bags, gloves, grabbers, and safety vests, ensuring a safe and efficient clean-up process. The event is slated to conclude at 11:30 am, providing ample time for participants to make a meaningful impact.

In addition to manpower, the organizers are seeking support from local businesses and individuals interested in contributing snacks, soda, water, or a light lunch to sustain volunteers during the work time. Such generosity not only fuels the clean-up efforts but also fosters a sense of camaraderie among participants, reinforcing the community’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

Laura Anastasio Moore, the organizer of the initiative, shared her thoughts on the upcoming event: “We believe in the power of collective action and the profound impact it can have on our environment. By coming together as a community on Earth Day, we’re not just cleaning up our streets; we’re making a statement about our dedication to preserving the natural beauty of Cross Hill and beyond. Every volunteer, every bag of trash collected, contributes to a cleaner, brighter future for generations to come.”
