Thornwell Welcomes Elizabeth Milhous as Vice President for Mission Advancement

Thornwell, a nonprofit organization committed to serving children and families in need across Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina, is honored to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Milhous as the organization’s new Vice President for Mission Advancement, commencing February 5th, 2024. With more than 15 years of experience in leadership roles within the higher education and social service sectors, her vast knowledge especially equips her to lead Thornwell’s Mission Advancement team and enhance its strategic fundraising and stewardship efforts.

Milhous is a driven philanthropy professional specializing in program building, campaign planning, and execution. Her extensive leadership roles in higher education and social service sectors have equipped her with a profound understanding of fundraising, volunteer management, event planning, stewardship, and program development.

Before joining Thornwell, Milhous served as Senior Vice President for Charitable Giving for the Rivers Performance Hall Foundation. She was also Vice President for Graham-Pelton Consulting, where she played a pivotal role in securing historic gifts for various institutions while overseeing business development and client relationships throughout the Southeast and Midwest.

Milhous earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees from Clemson University. Active in the community, she has served on many boards and committees during the past two decades, focusing on education and conservation. She is proud to lead Thornwell’s award-winning Mission Advancement team, which helped earn Thornwell a Platinum Award for nonprofit financial transparency in 2023 – the highest recognition for nonprofits worldwide.
