Venus in Fur:

Who’s in charge here, anyway??  Wouldn’t you like to know?  Or maybe you wouldn’t….  Just when you think you’ve got it all under control, a person walks (sashays, tumbles, storms…) into your life and everything you thought you knew is turned upside down.

Thomas is a playwright/director trying desperately to cast his interpretation of Leopold Sacher-Masoch’s novel of the same name.  He has spent an exasperating day listening to 35 incompetent actresses and is ready to head home to his fiancée.  Just as he is about to do so, an electrical storm rages outside, Vanda enters the room, and the electricity she brings with her rivals anything Mother Nature might produce.

Power, submission, gender roles, misogyny and feminism are bandied about in David Ives’ Tony-nominated, smart and sexy play, Venus In Fur.

Join us at Threshold Repertory Theatre during Piccolo Spoleto for the sexiest cat-and-mouse game you will ever witness!

Thomas and Vanda say it best:

THOMAS: You might say this play is about … beware of what you wish for.

VADA: Because she might come walking in the door.  Don’t *!%# with a goddess is what it’s about. *

…Wise words.  Better come see the show!
