Volunteers Needed for Meals on Wheels Program in Laurens County

May 27, 2024

The Piedmont Agency on Aging, responsible for running the Meals on Wheels program in Laurens County, is urgently seeking community support. This vital program delivers nutritious meals to homebound seniors who are unable to prepare meals themselves.

“We are in desperate need of more volunteers in Laurens County to deliver Meals on Wheels!” expressed Schea Workman from the Piedmont Agency on Aging. Delivering a route typically requires about an hour of time commitment, and all meals are delivered on Wednesdays. Volunteers pick up meals and delivery addresses from The Ridge in Laurens between 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM every Wednesday.

For those unable to commit to every week, there’s a flexible arrangement where groups such as offices, Sunday School classes, clubs, or book clubs can share a route. Each member takes on delivery duties once a month, making it a manageable commitment for everyone involved.
