Oliver Gospel Roastery & Café Opens in the Main Street District

Oliver Gospel Mission is extending its services through the opening of a coffee shop in the Main Street District.  Each purchase will benefit those in need of food, shelter, and a fresh start. The Oliver Gospel Roastery & Café offers in-house roasted coffee by the bag and coffee and espresso-based beverages.

Former National Guard Armory in Downtown Columbia is Becoming a Boutique Hotel

A building in the Main Street District that served for almost 60 years as South Carolina’s first National Guard Armory is slated to be converted to a boutique hotel.

A three-story, 34-room hotel is planned at 1219 Assembly St., in a building likely most recognizable for its large “Hussey Gay Bell” logo. It is located beside Cola’s restaurant.  The $7.7 million project is dubbed the Armory Hotel, according to the zoning application.

 

Welcome Alpha One Fitness to the Main Street District

We are excited to announce the opening of Alpha One Fitness, a fitness boutique, located at 1534 Main Street.

Alpha One Fitness has a variety of classes that are suited for all fitness levels. The classes include Barre, yoga, interval training, and recovery. Update on Intersection Projects on Main Street

The 1700 block of Main Street remains open as crews have begun the crosswalk renovations at the intersection of Main and Laurel Street.  The City of Columbia has placed signage at the intersection letting patrons know that businesses are still open and that parking to local customers is available.

Washington Street United Methodist Church Hosts Sunday Dinner on the Grounds

The Sunday Dinner Mission team of Washington Street United Methodist Church (WSUMC) will hold a socially distanced Dinner on the Grounds in the parking lot of the church.  A pre-prepared, pre-packed takeaway barbeque dinner from Billy G’s Carolina BBQ, as well as an ice cream treat from DEA’s Ice Cream Truck, will be served to the people who are experiencing food and shelter insecurity in our community.  Masks and social distancing will be required by all in attendance. Flu shots will be available from the Health Departments.
