‘’Twas the Night Before Christmas’ auditions at the Spartanburg Youth Theatre

October 6, 2015

SPARTANBURG, SC – The Spartanburg Youth Theatre will hold auditions for its second show of the 2015-2016 season, ’Twas the Night Before Christmas. The play is an energetic, zany romp through a Christmas wonderland.

Auditions will take place Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 12 and 13, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Youth Theatre classroom at Chapman Cultural Center.  Interested actors need only attend one evening of auditions. Auditions are open to students in grades 5 through 12, and they are asked to prepare a one-minute monologue. Those who audition can bring their own monologue or SYT has a selection available at its offices.

If a student is more interested in the behind-the-scenes aspects of theatre, SYT invites children in grades 7 through 12 to sign up for backstage work on the show.

To help students prepare for auditions, the Spartanburg Youth Theatre is offering an optional workshop on Saturday, Oct. 10, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Youth Theatre classroom at Chapman Cultural Center.  Students who take this workshop have an opportunity to work with the script and meet the director, and will leave with a rehearsed monologue and audition tips.  SYT audition workshops are popular and fill up quickly. Pre-registration is required. Cost is $25. Call (864) 585-8278 to register.
