‘Taste of the building arts’ to raise college funds

September 19, 2015

CHARLESTON, SC “Taste of the Building Arts,” a five-course dinner fundraiser presented by American College of the Building Arts (ACBA),  is set for 6 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2015.

The dinner will be held at 649 Meeting Street, in the historic Charleston Trolley Barn, a cavernous 38,000 square-foot building currently undergoing renovation into the College’s new campus. This once in a lifetime dinner celebrates the educated artisan and raises awareness about traditional building artisanry. Attendees will get the first glimpse of the building’s transformation into the College’s future home.

For advance reservations for corporate tables and individual tickets, call 843-266-7845 or visit http://americancollegeofthebuildingarts.com/ACBAevents.html.

About American College of the Building Arts (ACBA)

Charleston-based ACBA is the nation’s only four-year liberal arts and sciences college offering a Bachelor of Applied Sciences in the Building Arts, with specializations in: Architectural Carpentry, Timber Framing, Architectural Stone Carving, Plasterworking, Masonry, and Forged Architectural Iron. Throughout the evening, guests will be treated to demonstrations by ACBA’s talented students and faculty.

Built in 1897, the Trolley Barn is one of only 29 of the rarest, historic, landmark buildings in Charleston, because its turn-of-the-century industrial architecture remains intact.

Proceeds from the event will fund the construction and outfitting of student workshops and ensure that they are ready to accommodate the much larger student body that will include the inaugural classes at the campus in 2016.  General Admission is $150. The VIP Experience is $200 and includes pre-dinner cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.  Attire is formal – high heels not encouraged as the location is an active construction site.
