2016 Berkeley County School District Conference

The Berkeley County School District Teacher Forum and Berkeley County School District (BCSD) will host the 2016 BCSD Conference, teacher instructional fair, on Friday, February 12, 2016, at Cane Bay Middle School and Cane Bay High School from 8:15 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Lauren Reeder, 2nd grade teacher at Marrington Elementary School and BCSD 2015 Teacher of the Year, said, “Our vision for the BCSD Conference was to empower, inspire and unite all teachers by providing meaningful learning experiences to enhance instructional expertise, and we have worked hard to try and make that vision come to life. It also has been an amazing collaboration between the district and Teacher Forum. We really are #BCSDUnited.”

The BCSD Conference will offer more than 400 professional development courses for teachers. Courses include “Creating Vibrant Websites Using SchoolWires”, “Using Foldables, Visuals & Technology for Hands-on Learning”, “Introduction to Mobile Devices”, “Using a COMPass to Guide Your Class to Success”, “Speech Therapy in the 21st Century”, “Wait…What? I Can Add to the Script?”, “UNIQUE: The One Stop Shop for Connected Curriculum”, and many more. Please see the attached spreadsheet for all course names and descriptions.

There will be a special presentation by BCSD Superintendent, Brenda Blackburn, as well as vendors and a silent auction. Lunch also will be provided.

Shannon Thornhill, 1st grade teacher at Boulder Bluff Elementary School and member of Teacher Forum, said, “We really wanted this conference to spark a new passion in our educators. Teacher Forum and Berkeley County School District worked tirelessly to provide a day for our educators that would be meaningful and memorable. I believe that we have succeeded in showing our district we truly are united. I hope it is a wonderful day for all involved!”
