6 tons of pet food & litter collected for the Humane Society of NMB

CALABASH, NC – The annual SHIVER FOR THE SHELTER Golf Tournament presented by Slimbo Events which was played on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Farmstead Golf Links in Calabash, NC collected 6 TONS of pet food and cat litter for the shelter at the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach.
110 players enjoyed the mild temperatures while participating in this unique event which requires 100 pounds of pet food and/or cat litter per participant and a $25 per person registration fee. While prizes are awarded, Patricia White-Wisniewski, tournament co-director stated, “The spirit of this event is intended to supplement the food and litter supply of the Society. The fellowship and camaraderie strongly outweighs the competitive nature of the tournament.”
Crowned as champions was the team of Jeffery Baker, Lance Hallman, Joel Cutlip and Patrick Coughlin. Second place went to Rod Trostle, Emery Montgomery, George Strumke and Scott McGrady. Stephen O’Neill, Brook Heider, Steve Malloney and Dara O’Neill finished third.
“We greatly appreciate the efforts of the SHIVER FOR THE SHELTER tournament committee, Slimbo Events, the volunteers, and of course the support of the sponsors and participants,” said Sandi Kendrick, Executive Director of the shelter at the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach. “Based on the number of animals that we currently house, six tons of food and litter will give us a good six month supply and makes a tremendously positive impact.”
