Hold Out For Hunger is a campaign to motivate individuals to hold out from buying a meal (lunch or dinner) and donate the cost of the meal they skip to Harvest Hope Food Bank (a suggested donation of $10 or more). Harvest Hope can provide more than 50 meals to struggling families in our community with just $10! Supporters of their hunger relief mission can easily donate online at www.harvesthope.org.
Harvest Hope Producers hosted Hold Out For Hunger for the first time in 2011, and with community support and company matches by KeenanSuggs and The Cason Group, the event raised $5,000 to support Harvest Hope. Vice Chair, Ebonn Hixson says, “Hearing that one in four children under the age of five go to bed hungry breaks my heart. Events like Hold Out For Hunger can help eliminate statistics like this and many others that plague our state.”
Young professionals interested in participating individually or spearheading a team in their workplace may contact Harvest Hope Producers Vice Chair Ebonn Hixson at [email protected] for more information.
Those who are unable to attend the Hold Out For Hunger event at the Nickelodeon Theatre on Oct. 11 can mail donations to 1330 Lady Street, Columbia, SC 29202 ATTN: Ebonn Hixson or donate online at www.harvesthope.org.
