Leader Appointed and New Manager on Board

COLUMBIA, SC – December 1, 2008 – Elliott Davis, LLC, one of the largest accounting, tax and consulting services firms in the Southeast, announces the recent expansion of its business valuation services. Firm Shareholder Jay Gibson will serve as practice leader for business valuation services, and Linda Fiel, a recent addition to the firm’s Charlotte office, will serve as manager. They will be responsible for delivering a broad range of services designed to help business owners determine the overall worth of a company.

By expanding its business valuation services, Elliott Davis offers additional expertise in providing consultative advice, financial analysis and investigative services for closely-held companies, family limited partnerships, acquisition due diligence, stock option/purchase plans and pre-IPO stock transactions, buy-sell agreements, setting royalty fees, transfer from one generation of owners or managers to another, S-corporation conversion, reorganization or recapitalization, stockholder disputes, and division of marital property in divorce.

These services are provided to assist clients with estate and gift taxation compliance, taxation planning, financial reporting, litigation and dispute resolution, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, succession planning, joint ventures, and equity buy-in.

According to Gibson, the firm’s valuations are performed for clients looking to purchase or sell a business; increase the value of an enterprise for future sell-out or recapitalization; transition an enterprise from one group or generation of owners to another; establish a buy/sell agreement, incentive stock plan, or ESOP; settle a business dispute or divorce; establish a value for estate or gift tax purposes and value an intangible asset or set a royalty rate.

Shareholder Gibson brings 23 years of professional accounting experience to his new role as practice leader for business valuation services where he is responsible for providing consultative advice, financial analysis and investigative services for family limited partnerships, acquisition due diligence, stock option/purchase plans and pre-IPO stock transactions, buy-sell agreements, setting royalty fees, transfer from one generation of owners or managers to another, S-corporation conversion, reorganization or recapitalization, stockholder disputes, and division of marital property in divorce. In his former role at Elliott Davis, Gibson focused on audit, small business consulting, business valuation and outsourced CFO services to a variety of industries. Prior to joining Elliott Davis, Gibson served as vice president of finance for two closely-held manufacturing companies. Gibson earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and economics from Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C. He is a member of the South Carolina Society of CPAs, the Georgia Society of CPAs, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. ABOUT LINDA FIEL Business Valuation Services Manager

A recent addition to the firm’s Charlotte office as manager for business valuation services, Fiel is responsible for directing and controlling business valuation engagements from planning to completion; working with shareholders to develop and maintain quality controls; developing and training staff to assist with business valuation projects; and assisting shareholders with referral sources. Prior to joining Elliott Davis in October 2008, Fiel served as a manager with ValuePoint Consulting Group, a specialized practice of Pershing Yoakley and Associates, where she performed over 100 business valuations. These services included valuations for joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, lease rates, equity buy-in, and hospital-based physician service agreements. Fiel earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of William and Mary, and a master’s degree in business administration with a finance concentration from the University of Tennessee. Fiel is an accredited member (AM) with the American Society of Appraisers’ business valuation division. She is located in Elliott Davis’ Charlotte, N.C. office.
