PC Chamber Orchestra Spring Concert April 11

April 5, 2023

The Presbyterian College Chamber Orchestra will hold their Spring Concert on Tuesday, April 11 at 7:30 pm.

The concert will feature Symphony No. 2 by Joseph Bolongne, the first classical music composer of African descent; and trumpet soloists Cody Beard and Noa Miller in works by Corelli and Vivaldi.

“We are especially looking forward to performing the exciting Symphony No. 2 of newly discovered composer Joseph Bologne (1745–1799), the first composer of African descent in Classical Music. He was a great violinist, he directed the best orchestra in Paris, he was known as the best swordsman in all of Europe, and he received an award from Empress Marie Antoinette,” said Richard Thomas, Professor of Music and PC Orchestra Director. ” A new movie of his life will be released on April 22. Current PC students and alumni will join together for this concert on Tuesday.”

The concert will be held in Edmunds Hall at Presbyterian College. It’s free and open to the public so come out and enjoy!
