Trident United Way announces third round of Community Changemaker Grants

Trident United Way also announced three local nonprofits were awarded grants in Q2, totaling more than $33,000 each
Trident United Way, a leading local nonprofit organization committed to fostering positive change and development within the Tri-County, is pleased to announce the third round of funding in their Changemaker Grants program.
The Changemaker Grants program offers investments toward an agency’s effectiveness, efficiency and future sustainability by providing resources to improve or expand the organization’s mission. Trident United Way is awarding Changemaker Grants in four cycles before June 30, 2024, with a minimum pool of $100,000 per cycle. Each grant cycle will have a specific focus. Individual grant totals awarded will vary based on the grant focus and monetary request from each selected agency.
The third cycle of Trident United Way Changemaker Grants is focused on organizations serving the ALICE® population, specifically organizations led by and/or primarily serving persons of color. This grant will focus on making a positive impact in the Tri-County community by supporting nonprofits either led by a person(s) of color or serving a population of 60% or more persons of color to expand services beyond current eligibility requirements and provide much needed services for those falling below the ALICE® Threshold. In this cycle, up to four grants will be awarded at a minimum of $25,000 each.
ALICE® is an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, and represents the growing number of families and individuals who are unable to afford the basics of housing, childcare, food, transportation, healthcare and technology. These workers are often living with constant financial instability while doing the jobs that keep our community running.
Nonprofit organizations interested in applying for a grant must attend one of the in-person Information Sessions offered by Trident United Way. The purpose of the information session is to provide an overview of the criteria required for the grant and to clarify the application process. Two session options will be offered. Both will be at Trident United Way at 6296 Rivers Ave. in the Community Room on the first floor.

Space at the information sessions will be limited, therefore we ask that organizations register as soon as possible and limit attendance to one person per organization.
