GREENVILLE, SC – A Child’s Haven dedicated the Laura Kathleen Dobson Building on the Tunky Riley Campus on Thursday, October 23rd. The event brought together more than 250 supporters, families and staff who celebrated the successful completion of the site and the 100 percent completion of the capital campaign that funded the construction. Speakers included Peter Larocque of the Synnex Corporation, David Wilkins of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, and Richard W. Riley, Former U.S. Secretary of Education, the keynote speaker.

The building, made possible by generous donations from community and foundation supporters, will serve up to 96 children, from infants to preschool, in therapeutic day treatment, and be the hub for A Child Haven’s outreach and parent education programs. The facility was designed by Freeman Major Architects and constructed by Yeargin Potter Shackelford, and was completed on-time and within budget.

The agency typically has long lists of children waiting for its services. “We will be expanding our program during the next five years to meet the growing need for our services in Greenville County,” said Debbie Roche, Executive Director of A Child’s Haven. Given the need to expand operational funding to support this growth, the projections are a 14 percent increase in FY15-16, and a subsequent 12 percent  each year until full capacity is reached.
