A CIU Education: Best Bang for the Buck

August 24, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – For the second year in a row, Columbia International University is ranked #6 in the Southeast in the annual “Best Bang for the Buck” survey published by Washington Monthly magazine.

The rankings rate institutions based on three criteria: social mobility, research, and civic engagement. The magazine also considers the best value for your money based on “net” (not sticker) price, how well universities and colleges do graduating the students they admit, and whether those students go on to earn at least enough to pay off their loans.

Meanwhile, CIU is also ranked #37 nationwide in the Master’s Universities category. The master’s universities are graded on how well they recruit and graduate low-income students, emphasize cutting-edge scholarship and PhDs, and whether they encourage students to give something back to their country.

The guide comes at a time when many students are starting their college application process.

Washington Monthly is a bimonthly nonprofit magazine covering politics, government, culture and the media.
