June 1, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – Abacus announces that its office building at 2500 Devine Street is the winner of the 2015 American Institute of Architects South Carolina Design Award for Adaptive Reuse/Renovation Merit.   Jurors comments included, “This adaptation is simultaneously stylish and respectful of the straightforward building’s original style” and “the genius of the design is a willingness to make the right moves and rely on the sophistication of the user to appreciate them”.

The office is a collaborative effort between Abacus’s President, Cheryl Holland, and her husband, architect Doug Quackenbush, President of Quackenbush Architects and Planners. The space combines the best of mid-century architecture and 21st century office design, using natural light throughout.
