AeroCamp to be held in Greenville, SC July 16 – 20th

GREENVILLE, SC – This is the first time AeroCamp has been offered in this region, stated Alex Park, General Manager of Mint Air, a local Greenville, SC flight school. The closest place that I know of that offers it is in Ohio!, Park added.
AeroCamp is designed to give young people a unique opportunity to explore the vast and exciting world of aviation and aerospace at their local airport, according to the Flight School Association of America, of which Mint Air is a member and therefore able to offer this professional program. The summer camp is designed for young adults in 6 to 12th grade. No previous aviation experience required.
According to the program, students will learn what makes an aircraft fly, how pilots use instruments, basic radio communication skills, about weather, rockettry, airport traffic patterns, basics of aeronautical charts and best of all 1 – 2 hours of actual flight time! This flight time can count towards future pilot training if the student wishes to continue.
AeroCamp will run from July 16 – 20th. It will be held at the Greenville Downtown Airport from 9 am to 3 pm each day. Only ten students will be in the session. More sessions can be added if the need arises.
Our airport has never before offered a professional summer camp, stated Joe Frasher, Airport Director for the Greenville Downtown Airport (GMU). Through this camp experience, our local kids have a special opportunity to experience the science and awe of flight, Frasher added.
