GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville City Fire Department is now accepting applications for its Citizens Fire Academy. The free seven-week program is open to anyone age 18 and older and is designed to provide members of the community with a unique opportunity to tour the City’s fire stations and dispatch center, meet its firefighters and 911 personnel, and learn firsthand what it is like to be a firefighter. Participants will be exposed to both classroom and hands-on learning opportunities, including wearing personal protective equipment and extinguishing a fire, and learning CPR and basic first aid.

Classes will be held on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. from October 2 through November 13 at the department’s training facility, located at 688 Mauldin Road. The application and class schedule are available on the City’s web site athttp://www.greenvillesc.gov/FireDept/FireSafety.aspx. Applications must be submitted by Monday, September 22.
