Attorney Shaun Cranford named to Clemson Alumni Association board

CLEMSON, SC — Columbia attorney Shaun Cranford is one of five alumni joining the Clemson Alumni Association’s board of directors.

The other new board members are:Cranford is a 2003 graduate with degrees in political science and communications. He is an attorney with the Cranford Law Firm and represents Homeowners Associations in North and South Carolina. A member of the Clemson Alumni Council, former president of the Columbia Clemson Club and a recipient of the Alumni Association’s Roaring 10 Award.

  • Joni Byars of Greenville, who graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in management. She is a U.S. Army veteran working for the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Greenville VA Clinic, where she is the housing manager for the Homeless Veterans Program. She has been a member of the Clemson Alumni Council since 2012 and is a founding member of the Dorchester County Clemson Club, where she also served as president and vice president.
  • Mike Hamilton of Franklin, Tennessee, who received an accounting degree in 1985 and MBA in 1988. He is executive director of Show Hope, a nonprofit founded to care and advocate for orphans worldwide. He is past president of the Tampa Bay Clemson Club.
  • Eric Thome of Charleston, a 2000 graduate with a mechanical engineering degree. He is owner/operator of Folbot, a manufacturer of folding kayaks. He is a member of the Alumni Council and the Charleston Clemson Club.
  • Barbara Walker Webb of Neeses, a 1989 graduate in parks, recreation and tourism management. She is a compliance consultant for Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company, Columbia. She is a member of the Alumni Council and past president of the Edisto Clemson Club. As a volunteer for the South Carolina Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, she has served as walk chair, co-chair and walk committee member for the Columbia Area Out of the Darkness Community Walk.

The alumni board has 23 members and is the governing body for the Clemson Alumni Association. Primary responsibilities of the board include general oversight of the programs and initiatives of the association, financial audit and review, creation of governing policies and strategic planning.

The board consists of up to 15 directors who serve three-year terms. They are nominated at large, chosen by the nominating committee and confirmed by the current board.
