BCSD classes and offices to re-open Tuesday, October 11; Students to arrive on a one-hour delay
October 10, 2016Berkeley County School District (BCSD) students will return to school tomorrow, Tuesday, October 11, and schools will operate on a one-hour delay. BCSD employees are to report at their regular time. Students will arrive on a one-hour delay. The scheduled early release for elementary and middle schools and late-in for high schools has been canceled for Wednesday, October 12.
BCSD officials realize that some portions of our district population remain without power and continue to be impacted by the weekend’s weather events. The safety and security of our students and staff is our number one priority so if your child is unable to return to school safely, please contact your child’s school. Additionally, if any employee is unable to return to work safely that employee should contact his or her supervisor.
School bus pick up will operate on a one-hour delay; drivers will re-route as necessary due to any roads that remain impassible. Due to conditions of some roads and the need to re-route buses, we do expect to experience some delays but, to the extent possible, parents who have registered for alerts through Remind.com will receive information about those delays. We ask that parents accompany young children to the bus stops in anticipation of possible delays. If you live in an area where bus pick up is not accessible, please communicate that information to your local transportation department.
Before school and after school care programs will operate on their normal schedule tomorrow, October 11. Athletics and extracurricular activities will also all resume their normal schedule.
