BCSD principals and assistant principals of the year

Berkeley County School District recently named its principals and assistant principals of the year. Individuals chosen for this honor were nominated by their peers as well as district office leaders.

Berkeley County School District Principals of the Year are as follows:

–       Principal Kerry Daugherty, Timberland High School

–       Principal Carol Beckmann-Bartlett, Cane Bay Middle School

–       Principal Cristie Mitchum, Devon Forest Elementary

 

Berkeley County School District Assistant Principals of the Year are as follows:

–       Assistant Principal Dawn Smith, Hanahan High School

–       Assistant Principal Leslie Howder, Sangaree Middle School

–       Assistant Principal Rhonda Hill, Sedgefield Intermediate School

To be eligible for the award, assistant principals must have been working as an assistant principal for at least two years. Elementary school principals must have completed at least five full years as a principal, and middle and high school principals must have completed at least three full years as a principal. The district requirements mirror those of both the state and country.

The South Carolina Association of School Administrators(SCASA) will announce its top finalists for each category on Tuesday, November 8. The finalists will be interviewed at SCASA on November 15, and the state winners will be announced sometime between November 16 and December 21. State winners then compete at the national level through either the National Association of Secondary School Principals or the National Association of Elementary School Principals.
