Better Business Bureau to Hold Fall Shred Day in Greenville and Anderson on Oct. 22

GREENVILLE, SC – October 22, 2011 – The Better Business Bureau Upstate South Carolina will hold its Fall Shred Day on Sat., Oct. 22, at locations in Greenville and Anderson. Held in the spring and fall of each year, BBB Shred Days offer complimentary commercial shredding services to individuals and small business owners throughout the Upstate.

The BBB established Shred Days to help raise awareness about Identity Theft and to stress the importance of shredding personal and confidential information to prevent it.

Individuals and small business owners can take advantage of the free shredding service from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 22, at: the Better Business Bureau office, 408 N. Church Street in Greenville; and Anderson Mall, 3131 Clemson Boulevard in Anderson. Participants are asked to limit the number of boxes to 10 per vehicle. There will be a charge of $5 for any additional boxes that will go to the Educational Outreach Program.

Also during Shred Day, the Better Business Bureau is partnering with Hopeline® from Verizon Wireless to collect no longer used wireless phones, batteries and accessories to provide refurbished phones and cash grants to local shelters and non-profit agencies focusing on the awareness and prevention of domestic violence. At the Greenville location only, Goodwill will accept computers, monitors and printers in any condition to be recycled. Hard drives are wiped by Goodwill Industries following the US Department of Defense standards.
