Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative announces record breaking funds raised from 20th anniversary of Blue Ridge Feast

Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative is pleased to announce that the 20th annual Blue Ridge Fest, held on April 28, 2017, raised a record breaking amount of $215,000 to benefit local non-profit organizations in Greenville, Anderson, Oconee and Pickens counties. Since the event’s inception, Blue Ridge Fest will have more than $2.5 million to local human help organizations that provide individuals with basic necessities such as food, shelter, clothing and health care.
The charities receiving funds in 2017 include: Anderson Interfaith Ministries, Collins Children’s Home, Dot’s Kitchen of Westminster, Feed a Hungry Child, Helping Hands of Clemson, Hidden Treasure Christian School, Meal on Wheels of Anderson, North Greenville Crisis Ministry, Oconee Disabilities & Special Needs Board, Ripple of One, The Dream Center of Pickens County and United Christian Ministries. Of these, The Dream Center of Pickens County and North Greenville Crisis Ministry have benefitted from Blue Ridge Fest previously, significantly impacting services and programs their able to provide to the community.
Representatives from Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative will host check presentations later this month for each non-profit organization receiving funds.
“On behalf of all employees of Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, we are thrilled that the 20th anniversary of Blue Ridge Festival was a record breaking year for total funds raised,” said Charles Dalton, president and CEO. “We are looking forward to distributing the checks over the next few weeks and seeing the impact it has on these organizations and the people they serve in our community.”
The annual festival, which boasts the Upstate’s largest classic-car cruise-in along with a beach night show and dance, attracted more than 4,000 attendees in 2017. Featured entertainment for the 2017 event included Little Anthony and the Imperials, the Contours, Jim Quick and the Coastline and the Flashbacks. Blue Ridge Fest is organized and executed by 250 Blue Ridge Electric and Blue Ridge Security employee volunteers, enabling the festival to maximize its proceeds to benefit local charities.
