Board names Aldridge assistant principal of Midway Elementary

LEXINGTON, SC — During the July 19, 2016 regular monthly meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, the board approved the hiring of LaQuana P. Aldridge as assistant principal of Midway Elementary School.

Since August of 2015, Aldridge served as administrative assistant principal at Chapin Intermediate School in School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties.

Aldridge previously worked as a third-grade special education teacher in Newark Public Schools during the 2010–2011 school year, before moving to South Carolina in 2011 to teach at Irmo Elementary in School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties.

From 2011 to 2015, Aldridge taught second, fourth and fifth grade, as well as special education at Irmo Elementary. She was named Teacher of the Year for the 2014–2015 school year.

While working as a classroom teacher, Aldridge also served as assistant director of the Honey Bunch after-school program at Irmo Elementary from January to July of 2014 and as director of the program from August 2014 to June 2015.

Aldridge received her Bachelor of Arts in contemporary arts from Ramapo College of New Jersey. She earned a Master of Education in divergent learning from Columbia College and a Master of Education in administration and supervision from Southern Wesleyan University.

Aldridge holds elementary principal, early childhood, elementary and special education professional certifications.
