BoosterBeds to hold first fundraiser in Greenville at Wade Hampton High School

November 19, 2014

December 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. | at Wade Hampton High School, 100 Pine Knoll Drive

Wade Hampton High School will be the first Greenville County school to hold a fundraising event with BoosterBeds, a local group that is offering a new and unique way for schools to raise dollars to help programs.

New laws that no longer allow unhealthy foods to be sold as fundraisers for schools has created a monetary gap for education, said Robert Wilson, a BoosterBeds team member. Schools are looking at ways to create new revenue sources through fundraising. That is where BoosterBeds comes in.

The Mattress Sale fundraiser will be held December 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Wade Hampton High School, 100 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville.

BoosterBeds is a division of Greenville-based American Dream Crafter, LLC. Booster Beds works with schools and other non-profit groups through a fundraising program comprised of a retail and online sale where high quality bedding products, including locally produced mattresses, are sold.

BoosterBeds offers approximately 20 high quality mattress models by respected mattress manufacturers such as American Dream Crafter and King Koil. In addition, bedding accessories such as mattress protectors, mattress toppers and a variety of pillows are for sale.

This allows for schools and boosters to raise more funds for all programs, which are facing tough times because of the new laws, Wilson said.

“We specifically designed our BoosterBeds fundraising program to face these challenges head on and to help meet the ever increasing needs of today’s school,” Wilson said.

Wilson said BoosterBeds is very different from typical fundraisers for a variety of reasons. Students, faculty, staff and other members of the group do not raise the funds or handle money; there are no out-of-pocket expenses; BoosterBeds handles all event planning including set-up and break down; mattresses are discounted up to 60 percent below retail pricing; all of the mattresses sold during the fundraising event can be delivered to the school or can be delivered directly to the buyer for a nominal delivery fee and BoosterBeds produces the marketing materials.

BoosterBeds was formed in 2013 and has held fundraisers for schools and other non-profits across the state, but this will be the first one for a Greenville County school, Wilson said.

“With schools promoting a healthier lifestyle, the focus has shifted to fundraising without calories,” Wilson said. “BoosterBeds is a fundraiser that promotes one of the key elements of a healthier lifestyle. Sleep.”
