August 29, 2013

COLUMBIA, SC – August 30, 2013 – The New Morning Foundation is pleased to announce the promotion of Brandi P. Ellison to Director of Policy and Advocacy. In her new position, Mrs. Ellison will be responsible for overseeing all policy and legislative initiatives. This includes setting the Foundation’s policy agendas, managing lobbying activities, liaising with state agencies, and developing collaborative coalitions.

“I am thrilled to be at the helm of this tremendous organization’s efforts to improve sexual and reproductive health education and to advocate for more equitable access to clinical services, especially for our states’ most vulnerable teens and young adults,” said Ellison, who has been with the Foundation since 2005.

A native of South Carolina, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Non-Profit Management from Clemson University. She is a graduate of the United Way of the Midlands’ Blueprint for Leadership program, and was recognized by The State newspaper as a “20 Under 40” leader in 2010.

Mrs. Ellison has earned a well-deserved reputation among members of the General Assembly for her integrity, her credibility, and her willingness to listen to a variety of perspectives, according to Bonnie Adams Kapp, the Foundation’s executive director. “Brandi has been able to successfully navigate through complex social and health issues and accomplish a lot for the young women and men of our state by protecting their rights to preventative health information and access to healthcare.”
