Brookgreen Gardens’ Cool Summer Evenings Performances
July 16, 2012MURRELLS INLET, SC – Brookgreen is open late until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for Cool Summer Evenings wit live entertainment and kids’ activities that are free with garden admission.
Wednesday, July 18 ‘Music in the Live Oak Allee’ features Phyllis Tanner Frye (Singer/Songwriter). Phyllis has a wonderfully unique voice and singing style which deliver her beautiful songs in a way that is soothing and stimulating at the same time.
Thursday July 19 ‘Family Nights at Brookgreen’– Jerry Walls, naturalist , professional bird guide and co-star of CBS television’s ‘Carolina Safari’, will present educational and interactive program featuring his collection of live animals. This week, Jerry will focus on Animal Tracks—Nature Detective! The hour-long programs will begin at 5 p.m. in the Lowcountry Zoo area at the Sculpture Center outdoor patio and will be held rain or shine. From 6 – 7:30 p.m., join us at the Welcome Center for ‘Family Fun with Science—Oh, My!’ an interactive program for families. With the same intrigue of spotting lions, and tigers, and bears, science activities will attract participants at stations for K-2 and 3-6 graders. Together, family members construct items and make predictions, view supplies and test choices, or play games to identify things. Family Fun with Science is sponsored in part by
Friday evening concert on July 20 is TruSol (Motown, R&B) These fun-filled entertainers take pride in their soulful renditions of classics from the Motown Era up to the present Hip Hop and R&B Era. Their performances are electrifying and guaranteed to keep the crowd happy.
Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to be more comfortable during the performances.
Brookgreen Gardens, a non-profit National Historic Landmark, accredited out- door museum and zoo, is located on U.S. 17 between Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island, South Carolina. It is open daily to the public.
