Burroughs and Chapin Company, Inc. recognized as a Centennial Business

Today Secretary of State Mark Hammond officially recognized Burroughs & Chapin Company, Inc. as a South Carolina Centennial Business.  This honor is reserved for domestic business entities that have been in good standing with the Secretary of State’s Office for 100 years or more.

Secretary Hammond honored Burroughs & Chapin at its headquarters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  “Because of its tenacity and dedication to economic development, Burroughs & Chapin is a household name in South Carolina.  Burroughs & Chapin is one of a select group of businesses that originated in our state and that have continued to grow over the past one hundred years or more.  I am proud to recognize Burroughs & Chapin for its positive impact on the Grand Strand and on South Carolina as a whole.”

Burroughs & Chapin Company, Inc. was incorporated on July 15, 1895 and has been an iconic presence in the Myrtle Beach area for well over a century. It has been an economic driver in a multitude of industries including hospitality, golf, master-planned development, tourism attractions, commercial leasing and shopping center development.  Its best-known project-Broadway at the Beach-is a 350-acre shopping, entertainment, and dining complex that attracts over 14 million visitors each year. Broadway at the Beach is a past recipient of the South Carolina Governor’s Cup.
