Call for Community Support as LCSO Deputy is Battling Kidney and Lung Cancer, Brain Tumor

January 24, 2024

Christopher Motes, a dedicated deputy with the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, is currently confronting significant health challenges. He is courageously fighting kidney cancer that has spread to both his lungs and his brain.

On January 19th, Chris experienced a seizure, leading to an MRI that revealed a tumor on his brain. A critical radiosurgery procedure is scheduled for January 25th to prepare him for an extensive surgery on January 26th, aiming to remove the brain tumor.

Following this procedure, Deputy Motes will be unable to return to work for an extended period. The associated medical bills and expenses for follow-up appointments still need financial support. Adding to the complexity, Tabitha, Chris’s wife, who works at the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control, will also be out of work to care for him during his recovery.

Let’s unite in support of one of our own – a brave deputy who selflessly serves and protects. Chris and Tabitha, known for their kindness and generosity, require our assistance. The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office pledges its support during this challenging journey.

Sheriff Don Reynolds emphasizes, “In times of adversity, our community stands strong. Let’s come together to support Deputy Christopher Motes in his courageous battle. Your support and prayers will make such a difference.”
