CareCam Health Systems Opens Greenville Customer Care Center

May 21, 2015

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC), the County-chartered organization tasked with promoting and enhancing the economic growth of Greenville County, announced that CareCam Health Systems (CareCam), has opened a new customer care call center in McAlister Square. The new facility has already generated 10 jobs and hopes to expand over time to employ 50-60 people.

CareCam was founded by Upstate native and Clemson nursing graduate Shannon Pierce in 2007. The company provides a comprehensive patient-driven chronic care management solution that incorporates video and mobile technology to drive superior outcomes for patients and reduces costs for health plans and health systems.

“CareCam is on the cutting edge of technology. It is ensuring patient compliance with medical instructions and improving the impact of healthcare,” said Richard (Dick) Wilkerson, Chairman, Greenville Area Development Corporation. “This kind of forward-thinking company is a great fit for our community.”

While Pierce has always been a vocal advocate for opening a facility in the Upstate, the company’s CEO and site selection team worked closely with GADC to make a business case for this decision. With the help of GADC, the Upstate Alliance, Greenville Technical College, SC Bio and several other local organizations, CareCam was able to select and secure their site, research salaries, recruit for and staff their facility in approximately 30 days.

“We were truly impressed with the level of collaboration among all of the local economic development agencies in terms of coalescing around a common goal of encouraging us to commit to Greenville and in providing all of the assistance we needed to make our vision a reality,” added Carecam’s Vice President of Operations, Dave Sobolak.

CareCam’s 5,000 square foot facility opened in April and is presently being used as a call center to troubleshoot the use of its mobile app by health plan members. The company is considering the potential opportunity to expand the facility into an operations center for IT, developers and quality assurance professionals in the future.

“Greenville has proven itself to be a very entrepreneurial-friendly community with the kind of talented and educated workforce needed by technology companies like CareCam Health Systems,” said Dr. Bob Taylor, Board Member of the Greenville Area Development Corporation and Chairman of Greenville County Council. “We are pleased to welcome this growing company to our community and look forward to developing a long and rewarding relationship with them.”
