Celebrate Aging in Place in the Lowcountry!
September 27, 2011CHARLESTON, SC – October 11, 2011 – The South Carolina Aging in PlaceCoalition is hosting a Celebration of Aging in Place on October 11, 2010 at Founders Hall, Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site, 1500 OldTowne Landing Road, Charleston, SC 29407.The SC Aging in Place Coalition invites everyone interested in‘successful’ aging to join us in celebrating National Aging in PlaceWeek. There will be a presentation on Aging in the Lowcountry by KenBurger, author and former Post and Courier columnist.
Ken Burger willbe followed by Aging in Place Community Recognition Awards that will bepresented to 3 members of the community in recognition ofindividuals/organizations in the community.
1 –The Center of InfluenceAward will go to the person or organization who support the ideals ofaging in place through professional or organizational activities and/orbroad-based community involvement;
2 – The Super Senior Award will goto an individual who is 65 or older and exemplifies one or more of theelements of successful aging in place (healthy living, livableresidence, financial/legal issues, supportive relationships,transportation); and
3 – The Valuable Volunteer Award will go to anindividual who provides unpaid volunteer services that make a difference within the senior service community and support the ability of seniorsto age in place successfully.
The doors will open at 5:00 pm for the 6:00 pm presentation. Lightrefreshments will be served. The event is free, but there is limitedseating. Please call the Roper S. Francis Healthline, 843-789-1760, toreserve a seat.
