CHS Athletic Booster Club and Clinton High School Athletics Unite for a Historic Football Celebration

The echoes of cheers and the thunderous sound of tackles on the field have resonated through the Clinton High School stadium for over a century. This year, the CHS Athletic Booster Club and Clinton High School Athletics present a celebration: “100 Years of Clinton Red Devils Football.” This celebration marks not only the legacy of Clinton football and the deep-rooted pride of the entire community.

The first glimpses of Clinton High School’s football history date back to 1921 and 1922, with a few scattered games recorded. However, it was in 1923 that the first full season of Clinton football took place, igniting a legacy that has burned bright ever since.

In a collaboration between Clinton High School Athletics, Laurens County School District 56, and the CHS Athletic Booster Club, the 100 Years of Clinton Red Devils Football celebration promises a season of tribute and unity. Throughout the 2023 football season, the school there will be a series of special events, memorabilia displays and programs designed to pay homage to the rich history of Clinton football.

Broadcasting a Century of Triumphs

A partnership that has withstood the test of time, the booster club and local radio station WPCC continue to work hand in hand. The CHS broadcast crew will weave the tales of triumph and camaraderie through special features during Red Devils’ broadcasts and on the renowned “Saturday Morning Rewind” show.

A Night to Remember

The official game night for the 100+ Celebration will be the home game between Clinton and Chapman on September 15. It promises to bring together generations of Red Devil Football players, coaches, and fans. This will be a night to remember for all Red Devils.

Emblem of Pride

The specially designed 100 Year logo will be proudly displayed on Red Devils’ uniforms, a visual testament to the enduring spirit of the team. Furthermore, the community will have the opportunity to take a piece of history home, with commemorative items available for purchase at the Red Devil store located within Wilder Stadium during home football games.

This celebration underscores the bond between the Clinton community and its Red Devil athletes. The passion, dedication, and sportsmanship displayed on and off the field have forged a legacy that extends far beyond the 100-yard battleground. Dr. Martha Brothers, the principal of CHS, captures the sentiment succinctly: “It is a good day to be a Red Devil!” This celebration is a testament to the fact that the spirit of the Red Devils continues to burn bright, uniting the community across generations.

As the first kickoff approaches and the anticipation builds, the 100 Years of Clinton Red Devils Football celebration stands as a tribute to a century of dedication, camaraderie, and triumph.

So let the cheers ring out and the legacy live on—here’s to the next 100 years of Clinton Red Devils Football! Go Big Red!
