Chiropractic practice of Clemson University’s athletes locates in downtown Greenville

February 10, 2016

Dr. Michael Nelson and Dr. Kelsey Nelson of Carolina Active Health Chiropractic recently announced their grand opening at 16 Mills Avenue in Greenville. Carolina Active Health provides holistic and customized care for patients to resume, maintain, or improve their active lifestyles. In addition, their practice provides chiropractic services to athletes and staff of the Clemson University Athletic Department, serving as the team chiropractor.

Both physicians use state-of-the-art techniques including chiropractic manipulative therapy, Active Release Technique (ART) and functional rehabilitation to provide comprehensive care to anyone experiencing neuromusculoskeletal conditions– disorders of the nerves, joints and muscles. ART is a patented, soft tissue system and movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Patients state that by combining ART with chiropractic manipulative therapy, the practice provides them with a better overall outcome.

Functional rehabilitation is an important part of treatment at Carolina Active Health. The team looks at movement patterns, muscle firing, everyday motion analysis as well as traditional rehabilitation methods to provide the best possible healing. Their goal is to not only provide a cure for current injuries, but also prevent or reduce future injuries from occurring.

“At Carolina Active Health, we believe in individualized patient-centered treatment,” said Dr. Michael Nelson. “Since many neuromusculoskeletal conditions have multiple causes, we target and correct each source of pain to decrease reoccurring conditions. Through combining traditional chiropractic manipulation therapy, soft-tissue treatment and corrective, functional rehabilitation, we provide the best overall enhancement of an active lifestyle,” said Dr. Michael Nelson.

Although the physicians’ experience allows them to practice the same care and techniques that have served amateur, collegiate, professional and Olympic athletes, they provide treatment for the whole family.

Greenville SC-based Carolina Active Health is managed by Dr. Michael Nelson and Dr. Kelsey Nelson. Both are board-certified chiropractic physicians (DC) and are both full-body Active Release Technique certified. Dr. Michael Nelson is also a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). Chiropractic physicians focus on the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, with an emphasis on treatment through manual adjustment and/or manipulation of the spine. Founded in 2015 by the Nelsons, a husband and wife team, the practice offers a holistic, process approach using a combination of traditional and state-of-the-art techniques for chiropractic treatment.
