City CFO transitioning to Gaillard Management Corporation

April 11, 2016

Mayor John Tecklenburg announced that the City’s Chief Financial Officer, Stephen “Steve” Bedard, will be transitioning over the next two-and-one-half months from his current position to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Gaillard Management Corporation, the non-profit organization tasked with running the Gaillard Center under a long term contract with the City. This extended period is designed to ensure an orderly transition in the city’s CFO position.

Mayor Tecklenburg commended Steve for his outstanding efforts since becoming the City’s first CFO in May 1998.  “The city’s financial status has steadily improved during his time as CFO. We are confident in a smooth transition, with reliance on both Steve and the remarkable team he’s assembled in that department.”

In a letter to the Mayor, Steve praised Mayor Tecklenburg for his support and outstanding leadership since becoming Mayor in January.  He indicated that the Gaillard Center was something close to this heart given his involvement in the renovation project since its inception several years back. Bedard said, “I can say, unequivocally, I would not leave my present position for any other professional opportunity but this one until my previously planned retirement in late 2017.”  He added, “In closing, I hope you know without a doubt that I will always be available to assist you and your administration’s success in serving the citizens of this great city.”
