City parking tickets written in error to be dismissed

October 11, 2016

Due to Hurricane Matthew, the City of Charleston is not writing parking tickets for meter violations today, Monday, October 10, 2016. Apparently, contrary to this policy, some citations were mistakenly issued for a short period of time in the Market area. Anyone who received one of these tickets in error can call the City’s Citizen Information Line from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 843-973-7219 and the ticket will be dismissed.

In contrast, the City is enforcing illegal parking regulations today, particularly with regard to commercial and residential parking, due to the importance of protecting commercial zones for restocking purposes and residential parking spots for our returning residents.

Normal parking policies and enforcement will resume tomorrow.
