On February 6, the South Carolina Clean Energy Business Alliance (SCCEBA) will host the director of the US Department of Energy’s SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) and STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) programs for an in-depth discussion on clean energy innovation funding.
Dr. Manny Oliver of the US DoE will present information about SBIR/STTR funding sources at the roundtable, which will be held at Trident Technical College in Charleston. Michael Lake of Liquid Lignin Company and Earl Wagener of Tetramer Technologies will also speak about their experiences with SBIR/STTR funding.
SBIR and STTR are government programs through which federal agencies with large research and development budgets set aside a small fraction of their funding for small businesses. Small businesses that win awards through these programs keep the rights to the technology they develop and are encouraged to commercialize the technology.

Dr. Oliver will be available the day of the seminar for one-on-one meetings to help attendees with the application process. Attendees interested in a one-on-one planning meeting with Dr. Oliver will be able to select that option during online registration.
