Clemson names new director of financial aid

July 20, 2016

Clemson University has named Richard Ritzman of Memphis director of financial aid. He will begin work Aug. 8, succeeding Chuck Knepfle, who served as director since 2010 and now is associate vice president for enrollment management.

“I’m excited about joining the community and becoming a member of the Clemson family,” Ritzman said. “I can’t wait for my arrival in August and being on campus for the start of the new academic year. Going into my 31st year in this field, I’ve experienced the constantly changing complexities of that process known as ‘financial aid.’

“I hope my background will help with refining the goal of making the aid process go as smoothly as possible for our students and families. I’m looking forward to working with the enrollment management group and the entire campus to help recruit, retain and graduate our students.”

Ritzman began his career in higher education in 1985 at the University of Miami as a financial aid adviser and in 1991 was named associate director. Since then he has been financial aid director at Saint Leo University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the University of Memphis.

“I am very excited to announce that we have hired Richard (Ritz) Ritzman as Clemson’s director of financial aid,” said Knepfle. “He brings a wealth of experience at both public and private schools.”

Ritzman earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees in education from Kent State University. He is a member of the Florida Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and the Tennessee Association of Student Aid Administrators.
