Clemson to unveil its concept vehicle at GM world headquarters

GREENVILLE, SC — It is not every day that a university can unveil its product at the world headquarters of a company ranked seventh on Fortune 500 2014, but Clemson University will do just that.

Deep Orange 5, Clemson’s concept vehicle focused on personal urban mobility for mega cities in 2020 and targeted to generation Y and Z, will be revealed at the GM Renaissance Centerin Detroit, Michigan on Wednesday, April 22 at 6:30 p.m. (EDT). The event will be live streamed on ClemsonTV.

Each project incorporates integrating breakthrough product innovations and new processes, providing the automotive engineering students with hands-on experience in vehicle design, engineering, prototyping and production from the time they enter into the academic program until graduation. Clemson launched a social media contest Monday that will last through April 19 using the #DeepOrange hashtag to inspire participation by media and the public. The winner of the contest, a current Clemson student, will travel to Detroit and serve as the university’s social media engagement coordinator throughout the unveiling event.
