College of Charleston to Host Mayoral Debate

CHARLESTON, SC – The College of Charleston’s Department of Political Science, in partnership with ABC News 4 (WCIV-TV), welcomes the City of Charleston mayoral candidates for a debate on October 14, 2015, at 7 p.m. at the College’s Sottile Theatre (44 George St.).

“The 2015 mayoral election is vitally important for our community,” political science department chair and professor Gibbs Knotts said. “The results will help shape the city’s future and will play a major role in how the region addresses key issues like transportation, planning, policing and economic development,”

Members of the media are invited to attend the event and interview candidates prior to the interview. Doors open to the media at 6 p.m. and to the public at 6:30 p.m. on October 14.

To schedule an interview with a candidate, reporters should contact each campaign by 5 p.m. October 13.

This event is part of the College’s Bully Pulpit Series, a non-partisan event series that encourages and facilitates civic participation throughout the campus community by providing a platform for dialogue with the nation’s leaders.
