Columbia’s first riverfront destination and neighborhood taking shape

June 26, 2017

The Beach Company revealed plans for Sola Station, marking the completion of the company’s CanalSide community. Located in the heart of downtown Columbia directly along the Columbia Canal, Sola Station is the city’s first riverfront destination and neighborhood. The mixed-use community features 339 multifamily rental units, 30,000 square feet of commercial space and unmatched views of the Congaree River.

Named for the 19th century railroad line that once connected Charleston’s port to the state’s inland regions, Sola Station will offer premium apartment living in a desirable downtown neighborhood within walking distance to major employers, restaurants and shops.

“The river and its natural surroundings were our greatest inspiration for the residences and amenities at Sola Station,” said John Darby, CEO of The Beach Company. “Everything is strategically oriented to the river, esplanade and greenway, creating a special place to call home within an urban oasis of shopping, dining and entertainment.”

Many of Sola Station’s amenities are strategically oriented around the river, including the fitness center, yoga studio and clubroom. Additional amenities include a pet spa, bike shop and dog park. The community also features an active urban courtyard with saltwater pool, grills, cabanas, fire pits and hammocks as well as a passive urban courtyard with tree and light gardens, fire pits, lounge seating and additional outdoor kitchens to fit any mood and lifestyle.

Construction on the project began November 2016 and is scheduled to be completed in 2018. The consultant team at Sola Station includes, JHP Architecture, Creative Builders, Inc., Alliance Consulting Engineers, Inc., Hodgson & Douglas, LLC, and Moore Design Group. Construction financing is provided by US Bank.
