Columbia Green Seeks Proposals for Grants

September 10, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – Columbia Green is seeking proposals from non-profit organizations, neighborhood associations and groups, and garden clubs that would like to receive grant money for projects that involve the beautification of neighborhoods and public spaces in the Columbia metropolitan area. The projects should represent plantings in common areas, gateway areas, and recreation areas.

Projects must be completed by the end of 2015.

The Neighborhood Beautification grants are awarded to individuals or groups with proposals for rejuvenating existing landscaping in residential areas and/or adding new beautification areas.

Tree Initiative Grants are awarded to individuals or groups whose proposals involve adding to existing tree cover or planting new canopy, or shade, trees. These grants are part of Columbia Green’s 10,000 Tree Initiative Program, an ongoing partnership with the City of Columbia to add at least 10,000 new canopy trees to the Columbia metropolitan area by the end of 2014.

Deadline for submission of grant proposals is October 1. Grant recipients will be announced at Columbia Green’s Annual Meeting on November 12, 2014.
