COLUMBIA, SC – October 15, 2013 – The Congaree Vista Guild, a non-profit, membership-based organization comprising a wide variety of restaurateurs, shop, business and gallery owners, as well as homeowners in the Vista, has elected a new president. Larry Hembree, managing director at Trustus Theater, has been named President of the Congaree Vista Guild.

“Our board is devoted to seeing that businesses in the Vista thrive,” said Congaree Vista Guild Executive Director Sarah Lewis. “The board also spearheads the Vista’s annual public events and works to improve the quality of life in Columbia’s arts and entertainment district. As a respected member of the arts community, Larry’s perspective and experience as we aim for growth in our neighborhood while adhering to our artistic and historic roots will be invaluable.”

Hembree and other members of the Congaree Vista Guild Board will lead the neighborhood as the Vista continues to see an estimated $100 million of investment in the district, including desirable restaurants, retailers and businesses, in the next year.

“The Vista is seeing exciting growth right now, and our main goal as a board will be to promote, develop and preserve the unique characteristics of our neighborhood while encouraging beneficial development in the Vista for Columbia,” said Hembree.

The Vista has long been Columbia’s creative center, and is now the Midlands’ place to go for nightlife and entertainment. The Congaree Vista Guild board strives to encourage healthy development in the Vista, while seeing that the Vista is a vibrant symbol of progressive growth in Columbia.
