Contemporary Guitarist/Vocalist Jeremy Willis Gives Free Concert

October 6, 2014

October 12 at the Chapman Cultural Center

Chapman Cultural Center is Spartanburg’s premier location for casual and cultural entertainment on Sunday afternoons. During the Center’s Sundays Unplugged program, patrons can enjoy free admission to the history museum and art galleries, 1-5 p.m., and a free mini-concert by a regional musician, 2-4 p.m. It’s a great way to “unplug” with experiences in music, art, history, and science with the whole family.

Contemporary guitarist and vocalist Jeremy Willis will be the featured talent during this weekend’s Singer-Songwriter Concert. Willis, a Spartanburg native, made his musical debut at eight years old singing for his church. By this age, he had already learned to play several instruments like the piano and drums. At 15, Willis performed at the Carolina Opry. After graduating high school, where he was in band as a drum major, he left for the Navy, soon becoming director of the Naval Band. Today, Willis is still a well-rounded musician but is particularly praised for his strong vocals and original music. In 2009, he won second place in the Wild Wings music challenge and has since appeared several times on Your Carolina and other local daytime talk shows. The free concert will take place in Chapman Cultural Center’s Zimmerli Plaza, weather permitting.

In addition to the concert, patrons can enjoy free admission to Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg Gallery, Spartanburg Art Museum, Spartanburg Regional History Museum, and the Student Galleries. Spartanburg Science Center is open with a small fee.
