DEW Business Intelligence director joins national advisory board

April 13, 2016

S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW) Business Intelligence Director Brenda Lisbon has been invited to serve on the national Workforce Information Advisory Council (WIAC) for a three-year term.

Lisbon was appointed director of Business Intelligence (BI) in 2014. Previously, she was the assistant director of BI, formerly known as Labor Market Information.

“We are excited for Brenda, as this is an important council. She will be part of shaping how labor market information system can support workforce and economic development not just in South Carolina but across the nation,” said Cheryl Stanton, executive director of DEW.

WIAC is a non-discretionary federal advisory committee established through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act (WIOA). The council advises the Secretary of Labor about the nationwide workforce and labor market information system.

The WIAC is comprised of 14 members and meets at least twice a year.
