Richland School District Two and food services partner Sodexo served nearly 50,000 meals this summer through the Summer Food Service Program. Children, up to age 18, enjoyed free, meals at 17 sites throughout northeast Richland County. The district served a grand total of 48,607 breakfasts (17,173), snacks (4,060) and lunches (27,374) between June and August.

This was the first year of a new partnership with the Richland Library, which brought the Learn Freely Bus to Hunter’s Way Apartments on Percival Road. Inside, kids made crafts, had story time and played educational video games. Hunter’s Way was also the debut location of Sodexo’s new food truck.

Sodexo is a partner in First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move initiative to end childhood obesity and is committed to taking measurable sustainable actions that ensure a brighter future in the areas of health and wellness, environmental stewardship and community development. Sodexo focuses on nutrition, achievement, environment, community and activity to promote student well-being.
