DJJ officer earns top honor from SC Criminal Justice Academy

January 30, 2017

Ebony Shuler

One of SCDJJ’s own graduated with top honors from the SC Criminal Justice Academy. Ebony Shuler (shown alongside DJJ Director Sylvia Murray) was presented with the Bert Friday Award. The honor goes to the student in the jail training class with the highest academic average, while also completing all performance tests. Shuler was one of 40 in her class. She shares the spotlight with a fellow student from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Dept. who also earned the Bert Friday Award. Two honorees in the same class is unprecedented and DJJ congratulates both officers on their accomplishment. Shuler is another example of the highly trained, dedicated officers serving the state of South Carolina and its youth.
