Dorchester County Government recognizes outstanding contributions with 2023 Employee of the Year and First Responder of the Year awards

Dorchester County Government is proud to announce the recipients of the 2023 Employee of the Year and First Responder of the Year awards. Ms. Barbara Williams and Chief Fire Marshal Rickie Jenkins have been recognized for their dedication, service, and impact on the community.

Ms. Barbara Williams, who works in the County’s Facilities Department, has been awarded the title of 2023 Employee of the Year. Her unwavering commitment to excellence and remarkable work ethic have left an indelible mark on her colleagues and the community she serves. Nominated by several employees across multiple departments, her dedication to her work goes beyond mere professionalism; she has embraced her role and cares for her colleagues as if they were her own family. Dorchester County Government congratulates Ms. Barbara Williams on this well-deserved honor and expresses gratitude for her invaluable contributions.

Chief Fire Marshal Rickie Jenkins with Dorchester County Fire Rescue has been honored as the First Responder of the Year for 2023. Chief Jenkins exemplifies the qualities of a true servant leader, demonstrating empathy, humility, and an unwavering commitment to serving both his fellow employees and the broader community. His dedication to Dorchester County goes beyond the call of duty; it is a genuine passion that shines through in his every action. In addition to his exemplary service within the County, his influence has extended statewide with his recent appointment as the interim Chaplain for the S.C. Firefighters Association. His passion for his faith and his commitment to service make him an inspiration for all.
