Down Syndrome Association of the Lowcountry hosts the 12th Annual Buddy Walk on October 4th at Etiwan Park in Daniel Island

September 10, 2015

The Buddy Walk is a day-long festival celebrating our children, friends and community members with Down syndrome.

CHARLESTON, SC  The Buddy Walk is a national event celebrated around the country in honor of our community members with Down syndrome. The Down Syndrome Association of the Lowcountry will host its 12th annual Buddy Walk on October 4th, 2015 in Etiwan Park on Daniel Island.  This year we plan to continue our long standing traditions with local entertainment; lunch provided by our partners; a park full of jump castles, face painting, and treats for the kids; and our one mile fun walk through Etiwan Park with high school bands and cheerleaders spiriting us along.  We expect thousands of family, friends, neighbors, school mates, co-workers, and community members to, once again, join us to celebrate our loved ones with Down syndrome at the Buddy Walk.

As the primary fundraising event for DSAL, the Buddy walk is not only fun and festive, but also an important opportunity for our community to show support of our organization and our mission.  The community sponsors who participate in the Buddy Walk make a huge impact on our mission to provide support to new parents; enrich lives through art, athletic and educational opportunities and events; increase community awareness of Down Syndrome; enhance employment opportunities for people with Down Syndrome; and improve education for students with Down Syndrome.
